How to put up curtain rail on soft wall?
I have very soft wall and every time we drill to put it up, the wall just falls apart like cake! I have no idea how to get the curtains up! I was told to glue a plank of wood on with no nails, it lasted a few months but now its just fallen down and taken the wallpaper with it.. any suggestions?

Hi.put the wood plank up using rawl plugs.I have found that glue with no nails to be rubbish. You could also mix some plaster & put the plank on wall with that.
You can get poles than extend and are held in simply by the force on each end. I guess it depends on the weight of the curtain…
I had the same problem here. I ended up getting those steel hooks from TV. I think they were called “mighty hooks?” You can find them in lots of stores… Target, department store, etc.
Put the plank up again but use very long screws and raw plugs to fix it. They should be long enough to go through the plaster (which is usually quite thin) and bed well into the walls/brick. You can even put a bit of filler in the hole too before you put your screw in to give it additional strength. If you have a modern house with plaster board walls you can purchase some special butterfly rawplugs that open up at the other side of the plaster board. Best of luck!
Use a “cats claw”. That”s what their called. And you have to TAKE YOUR TIME! A lot of people make the mistake of rushing when they do it. Also you could have to repair some of the wall but that”s the way it goes. You”ll have to either spackle and paint under there anyway so you dont have to do it flawlessly. That”s what I think.
You might be able to use cavity wall fixings.
However, what I did in a similar situation once was to cut a long, thin slot in the wall boards, and fit a piece of wood into this, fixed to the vertical studs. Then I fitted the curtain rail onto this.
Is it very soft blockwork?
Thermalite blocks need specialist rawlplugs. They sell them in Homebase.
